The University of Pécs does not publish past papers of its entrance exam. It does offer three sample tests, in Biology, Chemistry and English, each with a sheet of solutions, free on its Sample tests page. They are the closest thing to a past paper that Pécs offers, and they are shorter than the real written part. This page explains what the samples contain, what they leave out, and where to find full-length practice.

In short

  • No past papers: Pécs's pages offer sample tests, a topic list and two textbooks, and none of them is a past exam.
  • The three samples hold 70 questions: Biology 20, Chemistry 20 and English 30. The real written part has 100, 60 of them English.
  • The solutions are answer letters only, with no explanations, and a few Biology letters disagree with standard textbook biology.
  • IvyTest's free sample test has all 100 questions in the real mix, every answer explained. It is not an official Pécs paper.

Why there are no Pécs past papers

Pécs runs its exam on many dates, most of them online on its own exam platform, and publishes none of the questions afterwards. Its entrance-exam pages list the material it offers for preparation: the topic list, OpenStax Biology 2e and Chemistry 2e, and the sample tests. There are no past papers among them.

Pécs's own FAQ still says no sample test is available. That answer is out of date: the Sample tests page and the About the exam page both link the six PDFs.

What the official sample tests contain

The PDFs are on the Sample tests page and again under About the exam. The page does not date them; the files' own properties give 2014 as the year they were made.

What the samples do not show

  • The full length. The English sample has 20 general and 10 medical questions; the real paper has 40 and 20. Expect grammar points and terms the sample never touches.
  • The timing. The samples carry no time limit; the real paper is 100 questions in 1 hour 40 minutes.
  • The marking. The solutions give letters, not marks: Pécs publishes no marks per question, no penalty and no pass mark.
  • Reliable answers in every case. Checked against standard biology, at least one Biology answer letter is wrong and another is open to dispute. Where a letter surprises you, check the topic in OpenStax rather than learning the letter.

Full-length practice in the same format

To practise the real thing you need the whole paper: 20 Biology and 20 Chemistry questions, then 40 General English and 20 Medical English, in 100 minutes, with a simple calculator.

    Sit all three untimed first, to learn the question types: numbered-statement combinations, 'which is wrong' questions, one-gap grammar and medical synonyms.

    Then sit a full paper on the clock

    100 questions in 100 minutes, a simple calculator, no phone, alone in the room, as on the day.

  3. 03

    Score it by part

    Count correct answers in each of the four parts. Since one question is one point of the hundred, the English parts carry 60 of them.

    Go back to the source

    Turn every wrong answer into a topic from the official list, or a grammar point, and study it before the next paper.

Does Pécs publish past papers?

No. Its admission pages offer three sample tests with solutions, the official topic list and two recommended textbooks, but no past exams.

Where are the Pécs sample tests?

On the Sample tests page of the Medical School's admissions site, admissions.medschool.pte.hu, and again under About the exam: Biology, Chemistry and English sample tests as PDFs, each with a separate PDF of solutions.

Is there a Pécs entrance exam sample PDF?

Yes, three: Biology (20 questions), Chemistry (20) and English (30), with answer letters in separate PDFs. IvyTest's free sample test, 100 questions with explained answers, can be saved as a PDF from its page.

Are the official sample tests as long as the real exam?

No. Together they have 70 questions; the real written part has 100. Biology and Chemistry match the real 20 each, but the English sample has 30 questions against the real paper's 60.
