The last candidate qualified in the first round of Jagiellonian University's Medicine in English recruitment scored 57 in 2023, 61 in 2024 and 63.00 in 2025, out of 100, by the university's own admission statistics. For 2026 the threshold is not published yet: the first-round ranking list of 1 June 2026 sets the Rector's minimum at 50, and exactly 120 of its 635 candidates, one per place offered, scored 78 or more.

In short

  • Round 1 stopped at 57 in 2023, 61 in 2024 and 63.00 in 2025, out of 100. In 2023 and 2024 that was the Rector's minimum itself, and fewer students enrolled than there were places.
  • In 2025 the minimum fell to 40 but the list stopped at 63.00: the 130 places, not the minimum, decided it.
  • 2026's first-round list ranks 635 candidates. 463 reached the minimum of 50, and the 120th scored 78: exactly 120 candidates scored 78 or more.
  • The 2026 threshold itself is shown only to candidates in the application system; UJ publishes the final figures after the recruitment ends.
  • Each year is a different paper, so a score is a guide to that year's field, not a target that carries over.

Everything here comes from two of Jagiellonian University's own documents: its admission statistics for programmes in English (6 October 2025), which cover 2023 to 2025, and the 2026 first-round ranking list for Medicine, Program in English, counted in full on 21 October 2026. No candidate's account number is reproduced.

This covers the six-year Medicine programme taught in English (kierunek lekarski, program w języku angielskim), recruited by the School of Medicine in English. It does not cover Dentistry in English or the Polish-language Medicine programme, which have their own lists and thresholds.

Jagiellonian cut-off scores by year, 2023–2026

UJ's admission statistics give three figures for each year: the minimum the Rector set, the score of the last candidate qualified in the first round, and the average result of those admitted. They print a threshold only for the first round; the second- and third-round columns are empty for Medicine in English in all three years.

Read together, they show two different kinds of year. In 2023 and 2024 the last qualified candidate scored exactly the minimum, 57 and then 61, and enrolment ended below the 125 places (114 and 103 students): the list ran down to the minimum itself. In 2025 the Rector set the minimum at 40, the lowest of the three years, yet the first round stopped at 63.00, 23 points above it, and 126 students enrolled for 130 places: that year, the places decided where it stopped.

The 2023 threshold is printed as 57 without decimals in the statistics; the others to two decimal places. The average admitted is the average result of those admitted across the recruitment, not only the first round.

Jagiellonian ranking list 2026: the first round in full

Jagiellonian University published the first-round ranking list for Medicine, Program in English, for 2026/27 on 1 June 2026. It lists every candidate by account number in the online application system, with a result out of 100, from the highest to the lowest. It does not say who qualified: the list's own notice says that the line between the qualified and reserve lists is visible only to the candidates on them, in the system, and that the final thresholds will be published once the 2026/27 recruitment ends.

What the list does fix is the Rector's minimum for 2026: 50.00 points. A candidate below it is not admitted for too few points; above it, a candidate is either qualified or on the reserve list, and reserve candidates may be invited if places remain once a round's enrolment closes.

Where the 2026 list stood at each position

With 120 places offered, the 120th result is where the first round would stop if every qualified candidate took their place: 78. It is a clean break: positions 108 to 120 all scored 78, and the next candidate scored 77. So in 2026, 78 or more put a candidate inside the first 120, and 77 left them just outside.

That is not yet the published threshold. A qualified candidate who does not enrol frees a place, which the list's notice says can then go to the reserve list, so the score of the last candidate qualified can end below the 120th result.

How the 2026 results were spread

The results run from 96 down to 0. Most of the field sat between 50 and 90, with the middle of those at or above the minimum at 69. Below 50 the list thins out quickly: 44 results between 1 and 49, then the 128 at 0.00.

Applicants, places and enrolment

Applications rose every year: 402 in 2023, 497 in 2024 and 558 in 2025, while places went from 125 to 130. UJ counts an applicant as a paid application in any round, so these are applications, not candidates who sat the exam. The 2026 first-round list ranks 635 candidates, but the 2026 statistics are not out, so the like-for-like count is not yet known.

YearPlacesApplicantsApplicants per placeEnrolled
20251305584.29126
20241254973.98103
20231254023.22114

Applicants per place is UJ's own figure. Enrolled counts those entered on the list of students by the statistics' date. 2026: 120 places offered on the recruitment portal; the rest not yet published. For 2027/28 the Senate's upper limit is 120 (Resolution 62/V/2026).

The Rector's minimum: what it is and how it moved

Under the Senate's recruitment rules, the Rector sets a minimum result for each programme, at the latest on the day the first ranking list is published, and it applies in every round: a candidate below it is refused even if places are left. For Medicine in English it was 57 in 2023, 61 in 2024, 40 in 2025 and 50 in 2026.

It is a floor, not a forecast. In 2023 and 2024 it was where the list stopped; in 2025 the list stopped 23 points above it. Results are ranked to two decimal places, on a scale of 0 to 100.

Is 78 the 2026 cut-off?

Not yet. Three different numbers get called the cut-off, and they are not the same thing. The Rector's minimum (50 in 2026) is the floor below which nobody is admitted. The round-1 threshold, which UJ publishes after the recruitment, is the score of the last candidate qualified in the first round (63.00 in 2025). The 120th result (78 in 2026) is a position on the list, one per place offered.

If the first 120 all take their places, the 2026 round-1 threshold will be 78. Places they leave can go down the reserve list, so the figure UJ publishes can be lower than 78, and it cannot be below the minimum of 50.

What this means for a 2027 applicant

The 2027/28 exam is on 5 June 2027, online, in the same format: 100 questions in 180 minutes on Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Logic and Ethics, ranked on a result out of 100. The Senate's upper limit is 120 places, down from 130. A result in the high 70s was enough to sit inside the first 120 in 2026, and 63 was enough in the 2025 first round, on a different paper.

Because the paper changes every year, the safer target is the one you can measure: your result on full, timed 100-question mocks, and how it moves. A steady result clear of the high 70s on a paper of this format puts you where the 2026 list's first 120 were.

Questions

What is the Jagiellonian University medicine cut-off score?

For Medicine in English the last candidate qualified in the first round scored 57 in 2023, 61 in 2024 and 63.00 in 2025, out of 100, by UJ's admission statistics. The 2026 figure is not published yet; on the first-round list the 120th result, one per place offered, was 78.

What is the minimum score for Jagiellonian medicine?

The Rector sets it each year: 57 in 2023, 61 in 2024, 40 in 2025 and 50 in 2026. Below it no place is offered, even if places remain; above it, admission depends on your position on the ranking list.

How many people apply to Jagiellonian University medicine in English?

558 applications for 130 places in 2025 (4.29 per place), 497 for 125 in 2024 and 402 for 125 in 2023. The 2026 first-round list ranks 635 candidates for 120 places.

When are the Jagiellonian ranking lists published?

The first-round list came out on 1 June 2026 for 2026/27; for 2027/28 it is due on 14 June 2027. Enrolment rounds follow, and UJ publishes the final thresholds after the recruitment ends.

Is the cut-off the same every year?

No. It went from 57 to 61 to 63.00 in 2023–2025, and the 2026 list's 120th result was 78. Each year is a new paper and a new field, and in 2023 and 2024 the list ran down to the Rector's minimum itself.

Does Jagiellonian publish who was admitted?

The ranking list shows account numbers and results, not names, and not who qualified: each candidate sees their own status in the application system. The yearly statistics then give the threshold, the average admitted and the number enrolled.

Method

The 2023–2025 figures are copied from the row 'kierunek lekarski, program w języku angielskim, Polacy i cudzoziemcy' of UJ's statistics for programmes in foreign languages (6 October 2025): places, applicants across all rounds, applicants per place, students enrolled, the minimum set by the Rector, the average result of those admitted, and the real threshold, defined there as the result of the last person qualified for admission, for rounds 1 to 3.

The 2026 figures are counted from the first-round ranking list published on UJ's results page for undergraduate programmes: every row's position and result, checked to run from 1 to 635 without a gap and in descending order. The page shows counts, positions and bands only; the account numbers on the list are not reproduced. A copy of the list sent to IvyTest was checked byte for byte against UJ's own file.
