Medicine in English in Italy: 2026 cut-off scores at five private universities, compared

IvyTest research team · Published 21 October 2026 · Data as of 21 October 2026

Five private universities teach Medicine and Surgery in English with their own admission test: Humanitas, Cattolica, San Raffaele, Campus Bio-Medico and UniCamillus. Each sets its own test, scores it on its own scale and runs its own lists, so their cut-offs cannot be read off one table without saying what each number is. This page puts the 2026/27 lists side by side, each read at the last place of its first round and at the furthest point it had reached by October 2026, in its own units and as a share of its own maximum.

In short

  • On their own scales, Cattolica's first-round EU line sat highest, at 58 out of 65 (89%), then Campus Bio-Medico (48.2 of 60, 80%), San Raffaele (41.00 of 60, 68%) and Humanitas (about 593 of 960, 62%).
  • Every list then moved a long way as places were turned down: by October 2026 offers or calls had reached 51.75 at Cattolica (80%), 450 at Humanitas (47%), 35.00 at San Raffaele (58%) and 32.2 at Campus Bio-Medico (54%).
  • UniCamillus publishes no EU list, only a minimum of 9 out of 90 to be eligible, and its EU places were still being offered in a fourth round in November.
  • Non-EU candidates compete on separate lists with their own places. Their lines sat higher than the EU ones at Humanitas, San Raffaele and Campus Bio-Medico, while at UniCamillus every ranked non-EU candidate was admitted.
  • A share of the maximum says where each line fell on its own test, not which school is harder to get into: the tests differ in questions, penalties and sections.

Every figure comes from IvyTest's five research pages, each built from that university's own ranking lists, decrees and notices; follow a university's name for its full analysis, method and sources.

This covers each university's main Medicine and Surgery degree in English. Humanitas's MEDTEC, Campus Bio-Medico's MedTech and the Italian-taught courses have lists of their own and are on the individual pages.

Medicine in English cut-off scores 2026: the five universities

Each row is one list. 'First round' is the score of the last place the call offered at the start; 'furthest' is where the list had got to by October 2026, as places were turned down and offered further down. Both are in the test's own units, with the share of its maximum beside them.

Humanitas's first-round score is reconstructed from its list within bounds (592.5 to 593 for EU, out of 960). Cattolica's furthest point is its latest call for expressions of interest; San Raffaele's EU positions are on its Definitive Ranking List; Campus Bio-Medico's EU furthest point is on its final ranking, which kept only candidates with an accepted English certificate. Positions on different lists are not the same thing.

EU candidates: where the lines fell

Read on their own scales, the first-round EU lines ran from 89% of the maximum at Cattolica to about 62% at Humanitas. The lists then went much further: the October readings are about 10 to 27 percentage points lower, because many of the first places were turned down by candidates who went elsewhere.

UniCamillus is the exception: it shows each EU candidate their own result and publishes no list, so its only public line is the eligibility minimum, 9 out of 90, and the falling number of places in its later calls.

Non-EU candidates: separate lists, higher lines

All five universities rank non-EU candidates resident abroad on lists of their own, with their own places and, at UniCamillus, their own test. At Humanitas, San Raffaele and Campus Bio-Medico the non-EU first-round line sat above the EU one on the same test; at Cattolica it sat a little lower. At UniCamillus, whose non-EU test adds an oral and is scored out of 120, every ranked candidate was admitted in both rounds.

Why the scores cannot be compared directly

The five tests differ. Humanitas scores the HUMAT out of 960; Cattolica's test is out of 65; San Raffaele and Campus Bio-Medico each set 60 questions, but with different penalties for a wrong answer (−0.25 and −0.2) and different subjects; UniCamillus's EU test is out of 90, and its non-EU candidates sit a reasoning test and an oral out of 120. A share of the maximum puts the lines on one axis, but a point on one test is not a point on another.

For a like-for-like reading of your own chances, MedChance scores the same answers against each university's own list and penalty rule.

How far each list moved

Every published list went far beyond its places. Humanitas's EU list, with 150 places, had reached its 354th entry by October; Cattolica's EU calls, for 40 places, had reached the 130th; San Raffaele's Definitive Ranking List, for 86 places, the 183rd; and Campus Bio-Medico's final ranking, for 84 places, its 147th, who had been 307th before the English-certificate deadline.

So the first-round line is the score that guaranteed a place at the start, and the furthest point is what was still enough by October. Neither is a promise for 2027.

What this means for a 2027 applicant

Apply widely: the tests fall at different times of the year and several can be sat in the same year. A score below one university's first-round line was often still enough later, as each list moved, but the movement depends on how many candidates turn their places down, which changes every year.

Read each university's own rules before comparing: San Raffaele's EU candidates must declare they want a place, Campus Bio-Medico's must prove English with a listed certificate by a deadline, and UniCamillus's places run over several rounds.

Questions

Which Italian university has the highest cut-off for Medicine in English?

On each test's own scale, Cattolica's first-round EU line was highest in 2026/27, 58 out of 65 (89%), then Campus Bio-Medico (80%), San Raffaele (68%) and Humanitas (about 62%). The tests differ, so this says where each line fell on its own test, not which is hardest.

Which is the easiest English medical school to get into in Italy?

On published lists alone, UniCamillus admitted every ranked non-EU candidate in 2026/27 and was still offering EU places in November; it publishes no EU list. The other four lists moved far beyond their places too, so a score below the first-round line was often still enough later.

Are the cut-offs for non-EU students higher?

At Humanitas, San Raffaele and Campus Bio-Medico the non-EU first-round line sat above the EU one in 2026/27; at Cattolica a little below. Each non-EU list has its own places.

Can I compare a HUMAT score with a San Raffaele score?

Not directly. The tests have different questions, maxima and penalties. A share of the maximum puts them on one axis, but MedChance is the way to measure the same answers against each list.

Method

This page restates nothing by hand: each row is computed from the data behind IvyTest's research page for that university, which reads the university's own lists in full. The first-round line is the score at the last place the call offered (for Humanitas, the bounds reconstructed from its list); the furthest point is the latest reading on each page. Shares are the score divided by the test's maximum, to one decimal.
