The Pécs online exam: platform, calculator and rules
Checked against the University of Pécs Medical School's official pages on 26 October 2026. Pécs publishes no admission rules document for 2027/28, and no marking scheme or pass mark; everything quoted is from its admissions pages.

Pécs plans its 2027 entrance exams 'mostly online'. The written part runs on the university's own exam platform, opened by a link emailed to you alone; the interview follows on Zoom or MS Teams. A paper-based written exam is also organised in Pécs, in Budapest and abroad. This page sets out the rules as Pécs publishes them, what it leaves unsaid, and a checklist for the day.
In short
- The written part, 100 questions in 1 hour 40 minutes, is taken on Pécs's own exam platform, reached only through an individual link sent by email before the exam.
- You do not need a camera or microphone for the written part. For the interview you need both.
- No electronic device is allowed except a simple calculator: no phone, no smart watch. You must be alone in your room for both parts.
- Instead of the online written exam, you can sit a paper-based one run by the Medical School or its representatives in Pécs, Budapest or abroad.
The rules of the online exam
| Rule | As Pécs states it |
|---|---|
| Platform | The university's own exam platform, 'only accessible through individual links sent out to each examinee before the exam by email' |
| Written part | Biology 20, Chemistry 20, General English 40 and Medical English 20 questions, multiple choice, 1 hour 40 minutes |
| Camera and microphone | Not required for the written part; required for the interview on Zoom or MS Teams |
| Devices | None, 'except for a simple calculator'; mobile phones and smart watches are 'strictly prohibited' during any part |
| The room | You must be alone in your room for both parts |
| Interview | Keep 'constant eye contact with the examiner' |
| Breaking the rules | Deliberate disruption counts as cheating; a breach may cancel your exam scores, end your exam or bar you from future exams |
| Results | Within a week |
Pécs publishes no time limit for each of the four parts and does not say whether you can go back to earlier questions. Practise as if you cannot, and keep your own pace across the whole 100 minutes.
Three ways to sit it
Arranging the entrance exam lists three kinds of exam occasion:
| Organised by | When and how | Fees |
|---|---|---|
| The Medical School's English Admissions and Student Service Office (the Pécs exam) | Every Wednesday, 3 March to 14 July 2027, booked by email two weeks ahead; online written part, interview on Zoom or MS Teams | USD 250 exam fee to the University of Pécs |
| McDaniel College (the Budapest exam) | Not listed on Pécs's pages | Pécs's page says to ask your representative for further information and fees |
| A representative agency (the abroad exam) | On dates Pécs posts on its Entrance exams abroad page as they are fixed | Ask the representative |
About the exam adds that the written part can also be paper-based, organised by the Medical School or its representatives in Pécs, Budapest and abroad, and that the interview can be taken in person there.
A setup checklist
IvyTest's suggestions, from the rules above. Do them in the days before the exam, not on the morning.
01
Watch for the link
The written exam's link comes by email, to you alone. Pécs asks you to check your spam folder if it does not arrive; check it the day before, too.
02
Use a computer with a stable connection
Pécs names no browser or device for its platform. A computer on a stable connection, with everything else closed and a charger plugged in, is the safe choice for 100 minutes.
03
Clear the room
Be alone, with the phone and smart watch out of reach. Their use is banned in every part of the exam.
04
Have the calculator ready
A simple one, the only device allowed. Practise the Chemistry calculations with the same one.
05
Test Zoom or MS Teams
For the interview, check camera, microphone and sound before the day. Look at the camera when you speak, since eye contact with the examiner is a rule.
Pacing 100 questions in 100 minutes
The written part is one budget of 100 minutes for 100 questions, about a minute each. The parts are very unequal: 60 English questions against 20 each in Biology and Chemistry.
On the official samples, the English questions are short one-gap sentences, while Chemistry has calculations and Biology has questions that list numbered statements. Moving briskly through English leaves more time for those, but Pécs does not say whether you can return to a part once you have left it. Settle every question as you meet it.
Questions
Is the Pécs entrance exam online?
Mostly, in 2027. The written part is taken on Pécs's own exam platform through a link emailed to you, and the interview on Zoom or MS Teams. A paper-based written exam and an in-person interview are also offered in Pécs, in Budapest and abroad.
Do I need a webcam for the Pécs written exam?
No. Pécs says you are not required to use a microphone or camera during the online written exam. You do need both for the interview.
Can I use a calculator in the Pécs exam?
Yes, a simple calculator. It is the only electronic device allowed; phones, smart watches and any other devices are prohibited during every part of the exam.
Can I go back to a question in the Pécs online exam?
Pécs does not say. Its pages give one time limit of 1 hour 40 minutes for the whole written part and nothing about moving between questions, so practise answering each one as you meet it.
