Cut-off grades (nota de corte) for Medicine at Spain's private universities, 2026: CEU, Navarra, UIC, UCV and UAX

IvyTest research team · Published 29 October 2026 · Data read on 29 October 2026

None of the seven private universities in this report publishes a Medicine cut-off grade the way Spain's public universities do. Each ranks its candidates on its own formula (its own test, the Bachillerato record and, at some, an interview or an aptitude test) and fills its places in that order. What they do publish, and what actually decides whether you get in, is that formula, the minimum grade you need to apply where there is one, the places and how the waiting list moves. Here it all is, school by school, read on their own pages on 29 October 2026.

In short

  • None of the seven publishes a cut-off grade: not CEU San Pablo, CEU Cardenal Herrera, CEU Fernando III, Navarra, UIC Barcelona, the Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV) or UAX.
  • The closest thing to a cut-off is a minimum to apply: 7 out of 10 in the first year of Bachillerato at Navarra, CEU Cardenal Herrera and UCV (which also accepts 12.2 in the PAU), and 7 in the English block for CEU San Pablo's bilingual group. That is an entry requirement, not the last admitted candidate's grade.
  • Your Bachillerato average is between 25% (UCV) and 70% (UAX) of the final mark; the school's own test between 20% (UAX) and 70% (Navarra).
  • The PAU almost never decides the place: CEU San Pablo says so in writing ("PAU grades are not part of the scale"), although you must pass it to enrol. At Navarra the PAU does order the waiting list.
  • UIC is the only one that publishes its whole list: 474 candidates in 2026/27, 130 admitted, 169 waiting and 175 not admitted, by position and candidate code, with no marks.

The seven at a glance: places, formula and cut-off

The formula is the 2027/28 call's where it is published (Navarra, UIC, the three CEU universities and UCV) and 2026/27's at UAX, which has not published its new admissions guide yet.

Places: as each university gives them on its programme page or admission document. CEU San Pablo: 200 per its programme page and the Ministry's register (RUCT), read on 7 October 2026; on 29 October the page no longer serves the figure as text.

"Bachillerato" means the first-year Bachillerato average (or equivalent) everywhere except UCV, which takes the Bachillerato average or the PAU grade, and UIC, which takes the last completed year.

Why don't private universities have a cut-off?

At a public university the nota de corte is the admission grade of the last student who got in the year before, calculated from the PAU. Private universities don't rank on the PAU: they run their own process, almost always before the PAU is sat, and allocate places by their own formula. So there is no figure comparable with a public university's, and any "cut-off" for a private school you see on a forum or in a search result is someone's estimate, not the university's figure.

What is worth looking at is how much each part weighs. A strong first-year Bachillerato average helps most at UAX (70%), the three CEU universities (60%) and UIC (50%); if you are counting on a science test, Navarra (70% the test) and UCV (40% the test and another 25% the interview) depend less on your record.

School by school

UIC Barcelona

Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona)

The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya ranks Medicine candidates on 50% academic record (the last completed year: in the final year of Bachillerato, the first-year average) and 50% admission tests: a Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics test at first-year Bachillerato level (25%) and an emotional-aptitude test (25%). The structured written interview has no percentage: it "can raise or lower the mark by decimals or keep it". Wrong answers are not penalised. The next test is on 13 February 2027.

UIC offers 100 places and, per its FAQ, "around 550" candidates sit the tests. It is the only one of the seven that publishes its full list: the 2026/27 ranking (tests of 9 May 2026) has 474 rows, 130 ADMITIDO, 169 EN ESPERA and 175 NO ADMITIDO, ordered by position and candidate code. It gives no marks, so no cut-off can be read from it.

The waiting list closes "two weeks after classes start (late September)", and UIC warns that "until the public universities' cut-offs are published, there is hardly any movement". The place reservation is 20% of the first year's fee and is refunded only if you fail the Bachillerato or the PAU.

Universidad CEU San Pablo

Madrid (Montepríncipe)

CEU San Pablo weighs the first-year Bachillerato average at 60%, the knowledge test (Biology and Chemistry) at 35% and the English test at 5%, and adds up to 2 additional points (pupils of CEU schools, siblings at CEU and other circumstances). Its 2027-2028 admission document is blunt: "PAU (EvAU) grades are not part of the scale for allocating places"; you must pass the PAU's general phase for the place to become final.

There are three sittings: 16 October 2026, 16 January and 10 April 2027, in person or online, and you can sit more than one (the highest mark counts). The bilingual group also needs 7 in the English block and B2 Spanish: the process's only numeric threshold, and only for that group.

The university publishes each sitting's admissions on 28 October, 28 January and 22 April, with the waiting list for the first two; a candidate who does not pay the reservation within 5 working days passes the place to the next on the list. It does not publish the last admitted candidate's mark.

Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera

Valencia (Alfara del Patriarca), Castellón and Elche

CEU UCH's 2027/28 admission rules (approved on 30 September 2026) build the admission mark from 60% the first-year Bachillerato average and 40% its own test, the EPAM (75 questions in 120 minutes); on the bilingual Valencia group the test weighs 35% and the certified English level 5% (B2 adds 0.2 points, C1 0.4 and C2 0.5). Up to 2 additional points are added, among them 0.5 for being registered as a resident of the campus's province (Alicante or Murcia for Elche).

Bachillerato applicants need a first-year average of 7. The sittings are on 30 January and 24 April 2027 at 13:00, in person in Valencia, Castellón and Elche (EPAM) or online for those who studied outside the Spanish system (EPOAM); the fee is EUR 200 per sitting. Decisions come out on 11 February and 6 May 2027.

Places go by score and by the order of groups you choose: placed in your first choice, you leave the others; placed in your second or third, you stay on the waiting list for the ones above. No cut-off is published.

Universidad CEU Fernando III

Bormujos (Seville)

CEU Fernando III's 2027/28 admission brochure weighs the first-year Bachillerato average at 60% and the tests at 40%, split Biology 35%, Chemistry 25%, English 20% and reasoning and ethics 20%. Up to 2 additional points are added.

There are two sittings, on 6 February and 3 April 2027, at the Bormujos campus, with results on 11 February and 8 April. The programme page gives 120 places. No cut-off is published; a candidate who does not pay the reservation in time passes the place to the next on the waiting list.

Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV)

Valencia

The Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir ranks on 25% record (the Bachillerato average or the PAU grade), 40% the performance test (100 questions: 60% Biology, 30% Chemistry, 10% Physics), 10% a psychosocial aptitude questionnaire and 25% a personal interview. Every phase is eliminatory.

UCV is the only one of the seven with a figure that looks like a cut-off, and it is worth reading carefully: preferential access goes to students in the second year of Bachillerato with at least 7 in the first year, and to those who sat the PAU in the first sitting of 2024, 2025 or 2026 with 12.2 or more. Of the Bachillerato applicants, only the 500 with the best average sit the tests. The 12.2 is a requirement for that route, not the last admitted candidate's grade.

For 2027/28, registration runs from 1 December to 14 May, the tests are on Saturday 12 June and the interviews from 14 to 17 June. 180 admitted candidates are published, and those who sat the interview with 5 or more without a place go on the waiting list.

Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX)

Madrid (Villanueva de la Cañada) and Oviedo

UAX's 2026/27 admissions guide scores candidates from 0 to 10: 70% the first-year Bachillerato record, 20% the specific test (a supervised online test of about 30 minutes; the programme page describes it as 30 Biology and 20 Chemistry questions), 5% a competency test and 5% a language test, with 0.5 extra points in some cases. UAX has not published its 2027/28 guide yet.

The guide reserves at least 170 places for Bachillerato and equivalent routes and up to 10 for higher vocational qualifications, graduates and university students; the programme page says 240 first-year places. Medicine is also taught in Oviedo, at the Centro Universitario Alfonso X el Sabio Asturias. UAX's own FAQ answers that "in many degrees no cut-off is applied as an admission criterion".

In the 2026/27 guide, the final list of admitted Medicine students was due on 31 July. A candidate who does not pay the reservation (EUR 3,000) and enrolment (EUR 1,350) in time loses the direct offer and goes on the waiting list.

Waiting lists: how they move

At a private university the waiting list moves when an admitted candidate doesn't pay the reservation or withdraws, and that happens mostly in July, when PAU results and the public universities' cut-offs come out: an admitted candidate who gets into a public university gives up the private place. UIC says so explicitly and closes its list two weeks after classes start.

Each university runs it its own way: Navarra orders it by the PAU alone; UCV puts on it the candidates who pass the interview with 5 but get no place; CEU Cardenal Herrera runs it by group and by the order of preference you chose; CEU San Pablo publishes it with each sitting. None publishes how far its list moved last year, beyond what UIC's ranking shows.

And the PAU? What it does at a private university

You must pass the PAU (formerly EvAU or EBAU) to enrol on any degree, private ones included, but at these seven it almost never ranks candidates. CEU San Pablo excludes it from the scale in writing; the other CEU universities, UIC and UAX use the Bachillerato grade. The exceptions: UCV admits candidates through the PAU (with 12.2 or more) and Navarra settles its waiting list with the PAU's Biology, Chemistry and Physics grades.

That is why preparing each university's own test and looking after your first-year Bachillerato average matter more than the PAU for a private place, and why it pays to apply early: several sittings run between October and April.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cut-off grade for Medicine at the University of Navarra?

The University of Navarra publishes no cut-off. To apply you need 7 or more in the first year of Bachillerato, and the final mark is 70% its admission test and 30% that average. It offers 200 places.

What is the cut-off grade for Medicine at UIC Barcelona?

UIC publishes no marks: its ranking gives each candidate's position and code. In 2026/27 the list had 474 candidates, 130 admitted and 169 waiting, for 100 places. It ranks on 50% record, 25% a science test and 25% an emotional-aptitude test.

What is the cut-off grade for Medicine at CEU San Pablo?

No cut-off is published. CEU San Pablo weighs the first-year Bachillerato average at 60%, its Biology and Chemistry test at 35% and its English test at 5%, and the PAU is not part of the scale. Only the bilingual group sets a minimum: 7 in the English block.

What does UCV's 12.2 mean?

It is the minimum PAU grade (first sitting of 2024, 2025 or 2026, Health Sciences branch) to enter the process by that route, not the last admitted candidate's grade. Through Bachillerato the requirement is 7 in the first year and a place among the 500 best records.

Do Spain's private medical schools set a minimum grade?

Some do, to apply: 7 in the first year of Bachillerato at Navarra, CEU Cardenal Herrera and UCV. CEU San Pablo, CEU Fernando III, UIC and UAX set no minimum average for the test, although your average is 50% to 70% of the mark.

When does a private Medicine waiting list move?

Mostly in July, when PAU results and the public universities' cut-offs come out and some admitted candidates leave. UIC closes its list two weeks after classes start; Navarra settles it by the PAU alone.

Method and sources

On 29 October 2026 we read each university's admission page and official document (linked under each school): CEU UCH's 2027/28 admission rules, CEU San Pablo's and CEU Fernando III's 2027/28 brochures, Navarra's admission profile and 27/28 deadlines, UIC's programme page, FAQ and 2026/27 ranking, UCV's 2027/28 admission page and UAX's 2026/27 admissions guide. CEU San Pablo's 200 places come from its programme page and the RUCT, read on 7 October 2026.

We estimate no cut-off. Where a university does not publish a figure, we say so. The UIC ranking figures are counts from its own PDF. If a university publishes a minimum or changes its formula, we update this page.
