The San Raffaele online admission test: devices, set-up and rules
Checked against Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele's official pages on 27 October 2026. UniSR had not published its 2027/28 Calls on 27 October 2026; every rule and date quoted is from the 2026/27 Calls, which apply to 2026/27 only.

The International MD Program's admission test is home-based: you sit it on your own computer, watched through ProctorExam by a remote proctor, while a phone or tablet behind you films the room. The 2026/27 Calls set out what you need, the checks before the day, the identification on the day and the rules that can get a candidate excluded. This page puts them in the order you meet them.
In short
- You need a laptop or Mac with webcam and microphone, Google Chrome, a connection of at least 1.5 Mbps and a smartphone or tablet with a working camera.
- From five days before the session, instructions arrive from convocazioni@ilmiotest.it for a technical check. UniSR asks you to complete it at least one day before the test.
- On the day you film your room, show an identity document and your face, and may use two sheets of white paper and a pen. No calculator, headphones or second screen.
- A disconnection that is not your fault can earn a place in a spare session, if you report it to admissions@unisr.it by 23:59 on the day stated in the Call.
What you need
The 2026/27 Calls (Art. 4.2) list the requirements below. A candidate who passes the check on lower-spec devices may sit, but any technical problem is then their own responsibility.
| Item | 2026/27 requirement |
|---|---|
| Computer | A laptop with Windows 8 or later or Linux, or a Mac with macOS 10.14 or later, with webcam and microphone |
| Browser | Google Chrome, version 81 or later, and no other |
| Connection | At least 1.5 Mbps upload and download |
| Second device | A smartphone or tablet (Android 4.1 or later, iOS 8 or later) with a working camera and the ProctorExam app (34 MB); Wi-Fi recommended |
| On the desk | Two sheets of white paper and a pen, shown to the proctor during identification |
A tablet can replace the smartphone, never the computer. No external screen, keyboard or mouse may be used during the test.
Before the day
01
Watch for the email
From five days before the session, technical instructions come from convocazioni@ilmiotest.it to the address you registered with. If nothing arrives, check spam, then write to that address.
02
Run the check requirement
Install the ProctorExam Chrome extension on the computer and the ProctorExam app on the phone or tablet, then test audio, microphone, both cameras and the connection. UniSR asks you to do it at least one day before the test.
03
Note your convocation time
After the check a second email gives the link to the exam with its date and time. If you do not respect that time window, you cannot sit.
04
Prepare the room
IvyTest's advice: set up the room you will use, as the rules below require, and sit a full 80-minute practice paper in it, at the same time of day, with the phone filming behind you.
On the day
01
Connect and film the room
Connect the devices you checked, then film your desk and the room with the phone or tablet. Plug it in and place it behind you, so it frames the room for the whole test.
02
Identify yourself
Take two photos: your identity document and your face. Accepted documents are an identity card, a driving licence with photo, a passport or a firearms licence. Logging in after identification has closed, or without a valid document, means you cannot sit.
03
Wait for the start
Instructions on timing, scoring and conduct appear on screen. When everyone in your session has been identified, a Start the Test button appears; the wait depends on how long identification takes.
04
60 questions, then 7 more
You have 80 minutes for the 60 questions, then 7 reserve questions in a time the software sets. A chat box connects you to technical assistance throughout. At the end, log out and click End test.
The rules that can exclude you
- The room must be well lit, isolated and quiet, with a single door, closed for the whole test, and nobody else in it.
- The camera must show you and your workstation at the same time, both arms always visible.
- No reading the questions aloud, no talking to anyone, and no leaving the room for any reason.
- No headphones, earplugs, smartphone, smartwatch, calculator or glasses with a camera, and no other application, browser or web page.
- No books, notes or handouts.
All tests are re-examined on the ProctorExam recordings after the sessions. A breach in session 1 bars you from session 2 and from the ranking; a breach in session 2 removes you from the ranking and cancels session 1 as well.
If something goes wrong
If the platform disconnects for a proven technical or connection problem that is not your fault, or stops you starting, report it to admissions@unisr.it by 23:59 on the day stated in the Call: in 2026/27, the day after an EU session, and 12 February or 5 March 2026 for the non-EU sessions. The answer comes by the day after that deadline, and authorised candidates sit a pre-scheduled spare session. If a disconnection not caused by the test provider cannot be restored, you keep the score you had when it dropped. A camera device off for more than 5 minutes leaves it to UniSR to decide whether your test continues or is cancelled.
Candidates with a certified disability or specific learning disorder can ask for extra time (50% for a disability, 30% for a learning disorder), a non-scientific calculator or a reader or scribe. The request and the certificate go on the Admission Portal by the registration deadline.
Questions
Is the San Raffaele test taken online?
Yes. The International MD Program test is home-based, with online proctoring through ProctorExam. You sit it on your own computer, with a phone or tablet filming the room.
Can I use a tablet instead of a laptop?
No. Under the 2026/27 Calls a tablet can replace the smartphone that films the room, but not the laptop or Mac on which you sit the test.
What happens if my internet drops during the test?
If it is a proven technical problem that is not your fault, report it to admissions@unisr.it by the deadline in the Call to be considered for a spare session. If a disconnection not caused by the test provider cannot be restored, you keep the score reached when it dropped.
Can I go to the toilet during the San Raffaele test?
No. The Calls do not allow leaving the room for any reason, physiological ones included, during the test.
