Fees

UniCamillus medicine fees: the English and the Italian course

UniCamillus is a private university, and its fees depend on the course, not on whether you are an EU or a non-EU student: the Rome tuition fees regulation for 2026/27 applies to both. Medicine taught in English costs €21,000 a year; medicine taught in Italian costs €16,500 in the first year and €18,000 a year after, at all three of its campuses.

For the November 2026 round, the last two first-year instalments are due on 15 January and 28 February 2027. The first 2026/27 call for the English course (Rector's Decree No. 52) also offered €5,250 a year off to the top 50 of its ranking with an ISEE up to €55,000; the November call has no such clause. The application fee is not refunded, even if you do not sit the test, and late instalments carry a penalty of €100 to €300.

Campuses

Where UniCamillus teaches medicine

UniCamillus, the Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences, was established by ministerial decree in November 2017 and is dedicated entirely to the health and medical sciences. It teaches the same six-year degree in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41) in two languages.

The Italian-taught course was accredited at Venice for 2023/24, at Cefalù for 2024/25 and in Rome for 2025/26. The two courses have separate calls and separate rankings. On the Italian course you choose one or more campuses when you register for the test, and you are ranked only for those. The University describes itself as secular and open to students of all faiths, and its mission, inspired by Saint Camillo de Lellis, is to train doctors attentive also to the diseases of underprivileged countries. It is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, and its medical students and graduates can apply for ECFMG certification, the route to practising in the United States.

Places

Places per round in 2026/27

UniCamillus fills its places over several rounds a year, each under its own Rector's Decree, and each round offers what the earlier ones left. These are the places for Italian, EU and equivalent candidates in every 2026/27 round, read in the decrees themselves.

Non-EU candidates resident abroad apply to the English course under a separate call, with its own places (83 under Rector's Decree No. 200) and its own selection: a written reasoning test and an online oral in English, ranked out of 120. UniCamillus publishes no applicant numbers and no cutoffs: you need at least 9 of the 90 points to be eligible, and the ranking does the rest.

How to apply

How to apply to medicine at UniCamillus

Every round works the same way, on both courses:

  • Register on the GOMP student portal (unicamillus-studenti.gomp.it) by the call's deadline, at 1:00 pm, following the University's guide to applying for a call, and pay the €180 fee on the portal by PagoPA or CBILL by the same deadline. Keep the unique code the portal gives you: you will need it to find your result.
  • Requests for extra time or aids (disabilities, specific learning disorders) go by certified email (PEC) with the medical certificate, by the same deadline.
  • Sit the test at home on the set day: a computer with Chrome, a webcam and microphone, and a phone or tablet with the proctoring app behind you. Two blank sheets and a pen are allowed; a calculator is not.
  • Results are on the website within about a week, by your code. Admitted candidates enrol online within the call's deadline (2 December 2026 for the November round) with SPID, CIE or an OTP digital signature, and pay the first two instalments.
  • With a diploma from abroad, the Declaration of Value or CIMEA certificate is due by 31 December; the tuberculosis test and hepatitis B vaccination within 30 days of enrolment. Places freed by withdrawals pass down the ranking in 'sliding' rounds, with two working days to enrol.

Study plan

The UniCamillus medicine curriculum and academic calendar

Medicine and Surgery is a six-year single-cycle degree of 360 ECTS credits. The English course's study plan for students enrolling in 2026/27 starts in year 1 with chemistry and introductory biochemistry, biology and genetics, physics, statistics and information processing, histology and embryology, and human anatomy; Laboratory Medicine is a 7-credit course in year 3, internships total 60 credits, and the degree ends with a State examination built on a dissertation, which also qualifies you to practise in Italy.

In 2026/27 first-year lectures run from 2 November 2026 to 31 January 2027 and from 1 March to 31 May 2027, with exam sessions from 1 to 27 February and from 1 June to 31 July 2027, and extraordinary sessions in April, September and December. Students admitted in the November round are credited, for the attendance rule, with the lectures held before they enrolled.

Student life

Living in Rome as a medical student

UniCamillus's campus is in Rebibbia, in Rome's north-east — a residential, less touristy area than the centre, served by the Metro B terminus, and generally more affordable than central neighbourhoods like Trastevere or Prati. The university is known for one of the largest international student bodies among Italian medical schools — commonly cited as over 40% non-EU students across 60+ nationalities, though exact current figures vary by source.

On-site facilities include the 'UniHall' building (study rooms, library, printing centre), a dedicated auditorium, lab suites open six days a week, and a digital library via the Ovid platform. Clinical training runs through IDI IRCCS and San Camillo Forlanini/IRCCS San Camillo, the newest addition to UniCamillus's teaching hospital network.

Housing options include university-linked residences alongside Rome's private rental market.

UniCamillus admissions FAQ

It can. For 2026/27 the English-taught Medicine test in Rome was sat on 19 March 2026 (Rector's Decree No. 52), 19 May 2026 (No. 193) and 21 September 2026 (No. 473, registrations until 16 September 2026). Each call sets its own dates, so check the one you're registering under.

60 five-option questions in one continuous 60-minute sitting: Logic, Problem-Solving & Reading Comprehension 10, Biology 15, Chemistry 15, Physics 15 and Humanistic Culture & Humanitarian Mission 5. A correct answer scores +1.5, a wrong one −0.25 and a blank 0, out of 90, and you need at least 9 points to be eligible. It's sat online from home under remote proctoring, and no calculator is allowed.

It's built on UniCamillus's most recent call, for the 2026/27 cycle (Rector's Decree No. 473). The 2027/28 call hadn't been published as of this guide's last update, so check it for any changes once it's out.

Yes. The simulator supports UniCamillus-specific practice sessions.

For 2026/27 the Rome campus call offered 425 places on the English-taught programme to Italian and EU candidates, a figure the Ministry can still change, with non-EU applicants admitted under a separate call. UniCamillus doesn't report an official acceptance rate. This guide is built for the Rome campus test; the Venice (Mestre) and Cefalù campuses admit through separate calls.

Within the EU, yes. It's a standard Italian medical degree (LM-41), automatically recognised across the EU/EEA. Italy's medical schools, UniCamillus included, became ECFMG-certification-eligible once the national system gained WFME accreditation in 2024, opening the standard USMLE/ECFMG path toward US practice. UK recognition follows the standard international-graduate route rather than an automatic pathway.
