Jagiellonian · Scoring and the ranking list
Jagiellonian exam scoring, minimum score and how the ranking list works
Checked against Jagiellonian University Medical College's official pages on 28 October 2026. JUMC's 2027/28 timelines for Medicine and Dentistry are published; tuition for 2027/28 admissions and the IRK 2027/28 round are not yet.
Key figures
- the result, to two decimal places: the exam is the only score
- 0–100
- the Rector's minimum for Medicine in 2026
- 50 points
- the last result qualified in round 1, 2026
- 70.00
- applicants per place in 2026: 635 for 120 places
- 5.29
At Jagiellonian University Medical College there is no interview, no school-grade conversion and no weighting by subject in the ranking: one exam produces one number between 0 and 100, and that number decides everything. But a number alone does not tell you whether you are in. Three rules turn it into a place: the Rector's minimum, the ranking list and the enrolment rounds. This page explains each one from the Senate's own rules, then shows how they played out in 2026.
In short
- Every candidate's result is a number from 0 to 100 to two decimal places, from the written exam alone (Senate Resolution 62/V/2026, §9(1) and Annex 3).
- The Rector sets a minimum by the day the first ranking list is published; it is the same in every round, and no one below it can be qualified or put on the reserve list.
- The minimum was 57, 61, 40 and 50 points in 2023–2026; the last result qualified in round 1 was 57, 61.00, 63.00 and 70.00.
- In 2026 the 120th result on the first list was 78, but the last candidate qualified in round 1 scored 70.00: the list's position is not the cut-off.
The result: one number from 0 to 100
The Senate's recruitment rules for 2027/28 (Resolution 62/V/2026) say that every result is a number on a scale from 0 to 100, given to two decimal places. For the programmes in English, Annex 3 says where the number comes from: the written exam, Reasoning and Critical Thinking in Premedical Sciences, and nothing else. JUMC's Admission Criteria put it plainly: admission is 'based solely on the entrance examination results'.
So your English certificate and your school grades in chemistry and biology or physics are requirements, checked for eligibility, and add nothing to your score.
- Published: the scale (0–100), the precision (two decimals), and that the exam is the only component.
- Not published: how the 100 questions are marked (whether a wrong answer costs anything), how they divide across the four areas, and how raw marks become the 0–100 figure.
- Seen on the 2026 Medicine list: every one of the 635 results was a whole number, even though the rules allow two decimals.
The Rector's minimum
Paragraph 9(4) of the rules has the Rector set a minimum result for each programme no later than the day the first ranking list is published. Once set, it applies in every enrolment round, and a candidate below it can be neither qualified nor placed on the reserve list. The Rector may set it separately for Polish citizens and for foreigners; UJ's statistics give one figure for the English programme's 'Poles and foreigners' row.
| Year | Rector's minimum (Medicine) | Last qualified, round 1 | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 57 | 57 | 0 |
| 2024 | 61 | 61.00 | 0 |
| 2025 | 40 | 63.00 | 23 points |
| 2026 | 50 | 70.00 | 20 points |
The minimum is a floor, not a pass mark. In 2023 and 2024 it equalled the round-1 threshold; in 2025 and 2026 it sat 20 points or more below it. Why the Rector set those values is not explained.
How the ranking list works
The list published after the exam (14 June in 2027) is a ranking, not a list of offers. Here is how a result becomes a place.
01
Everyone is ranked
The 2026 list ranked every candidate by IRK account number and result, highest first, including those at 0.00. It did not say who had qualified.
02
The minimum cuts the list
Below the Rector's minimum, a candidate is out in every round. In 2026, 463 of the 635 results were at 50 or above.
03
Qualified or reserve, in IRK
Where the line falls between the qualified list and the reserve list is shown to candidates in IRK, not on the published list. UJ publishes the final thresholds after the recruitment ends.
04
Enrolment rounds
Qualified candidates enrol in round 1. If the upper intake limit is still unmet, waiting-list rounds 2 and 3 qualify candidates further down. For Medicine, no round-2 or round-3 threshold is recorded in any year from 2023 to 2026.
The 2026 Medicine list in figures
The first-round list of 1 June 2026, counted by IvyTest, set against UJ's statistics of 5 October 2026.
| Figure | 2026 |
|---|---|
| Candidates on the list | 635 |
| Results above 0.00 / at 0.00 | 507 / 128 |
| Results at or above the minimum (50) | 463 |
| Highest result | 96.00 |
| 120th result (120 places) | 78.00 |
| Last qualified in round 1 (statistics) | 70.00 |
| Average result of those admitted | 79.78 |
The last qualified candidate scored 8 points below the 120th result; 225 results on the list were 70 or more. UJ does not say why. Qualified candidates who did not enrol are the likely reason, which would mean the list's 120th position overstates what was needed. 113 enrolled for the 120 places.
Applicants per place, not an acceptance rate
UJ publishes no acceptance rate. Its statistics give places, applicants (paid applications across all rounds) and the applicants per place, plus the number who completed enrolment. The last column below is IvyTest's division of enrolled by applicants, shown so you can see how it is made; it is not an official figure, and 'applicants' counts paid applications, not candidates who sat the exam.
| Year | Places | Applicants | Per place (official) | Enrolled | Enrolled per 100 applicants |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 125 | 402 | 3.22 | 114 | 28.4 |
| 2024 | 125 | 497 | 3.98 | 103 | 20.7 |
| 2025 | 130 | 558 | 4.29 | 126 | 22.6 |
| 2026 | 120 | 635 | 5.29 | 113 | 17.8 |
For 2027/28 the Senate's upper limit for Medicine is 120 and the lower 40; the final number of places is set by the Minister of Health's regulation, which gave 120 for 2026/27.
Questions
What is the minimum score for the Jagiellonian entrance exam?
The Rector's minimum for Medicine was 50 points out of 100 in 2026 (40 in 2025, 61 in 2024, 57 in 2023). It is set each year by the day of the first ranking list, so the 2027 figure is not known yet.
What score did you need to get into Jagiellonian Medicine in 2026?
UJ's statistics give 70.00 as the result of the last candidate qualified in round 1, and 79.78 as the average of those admitted. No later round has a threshold recorded.
Is there negative marking in the Jagiellonian exam?
JUMC does not say. No official page states whether a wrong answer scores zero or loses points; only the 0–100 scale and the two decimal places are published.
What is the Jagiellonian acceptance rate?
UJ does not publish one. In 2026 there were 635 applicants for 120 places, 5.29 per place; 113 enrolled, about 18 per 100 applicants by IvyTest's arithmetic.
Does a high place on the first list guarantee admission?
No: the line between qualified and reserve is shown in IRK, and a place is yours only once you enrol in your round. In 2026 the last candidate qualified in round 1 was at 70.00, well below the list's 120th result.
