UCBM · Two tests

Medicine at Campus Bio-Medico in English or in Italian: two tests compared

Checked against the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma's official pages on 27 October 2026. UCBM had not published its 2027/28 call for Medicine and Surgery and MedTech on 27 October 2026; every rule and date quoted is from the 2026/27 calls, which apply to 2026/27 only.

The Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM) teaches medicine in two languages and admits to each through its own call and its own test. The English-taught Medicine and Surgery and MedTech share one test in English; the Italian-taught Medicina e Chirurgia shares one in Italian with Dentistry. In 2026/27 the two papers had the same shape and scoring, and in the Italian texts of the calls the same syllabus. What differed was the language, the day, the places, the fee and who could apply where.

In short

  • Two calls: D.R. 505/2025 for Medicine and Surgery and MedTech (taught entirely in English), D.R. 503/2025 for Medicina e Chirurgia (taught entirely in Italian) and Odontoiatria.
  • Both papers had 60 five-option questions, 20 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, in 100 minutes, scored +1, −0.2 and 0, with 12/60 to be ranked. The English one is in English, the Italian one in Italian.
  • The English test was on 19 February 2026 and the Italian one on 20 February 2026, both at the Nuova Fiera di Roma, each with its own registration and €170 fee.
  • The English degrees ask for a B2 English certificate; non-EU candidates resident abroad applying to the Italian-taught course sit an Italian language test first.

The two 2026/27 tests side by side

Every row is from the two 2026/27 calls and UCBM's admissions and fees pages. Both calls opened registration on 29 October 2025 and closed it at 13:00 CET on 6 February 2026.

What is the same, and what is not

  • Same format and scoring, the same tie-break (Biology, then Chemistry, then Physics, then the younger candidate) and the same post-enrolment OFA test in mathematics, physics and chemistry.
  • Same syllabus in the Italian texts: the Allegato C of the English-taught call and the Allegato B of the Italian-taught call are word for word the same list. The English translation of the English-taught call prints a shorter, different Annex C; the Italian text prevails.
  • Different language: every question on the English paper is in English, every question on the Italian paper in Italian. UCBM published the global lists of admitted candidates as the "prova in lingua inglese" of 19 February and the "prova in lingua italiana" of 20 February.
  • Different routes for non-EU citizens resident abroad: a separate call and an online test for the English-taught degrees; 6 places within the Italian-taught call, with the same in-person test after an Italian language test.
  • Each call has its own registration and fee on the same portal, and its own rankings.

The 2026 rankings: how many sat each test

Counted from the ranking decrees on 27 October 2026. The two lists come from different papers and different candidates, so a score on one says nothing direct about the other.

The English-taught degrees' final ranking keeps only candidates with an accepted English certificate, which is why its later calls go to lower scores on a shorter list.

Choosing, or sitting both

The choice is first about the degree: six years taught in English or in Italian, at different fees. The tests themselves ask the same science in different languages.

In 2026/27 the two tests were on consecutive days, under separate calls with separate registrations and fees. IvyTest's view, not UCBM's: a candidate comfortable in both languages and eligible for both calls can prepare once for the content and practise in each language, but should read both calls for any rule on sitting both, as the 2027/28 calls may differ.

Questions

Is the Campus Bio-Medico test in English or Italian?

There are two tests. The one for Medicine and Surgery and MedTech is entirely in English; the one for the Italian-taught Medicina e Chirurgia (and Dentistry) is in Italian. In 2026/27 they were held on 19 and 20 February 2026.

Do the English and Italian Campus Bio-Medico tests have the same syllabus?

In the Italian texts of the 2026/27 calls, yes: the two syllabus annexes are the same list, word for word. The English translation of the English-taught call prints a shorter list, but the Italian text is the legal one.

How many places does Campus Bio-Medico have for Italian-taught medicine?

For 2026/27, 154 for Italian, EU and equivalent candidates and 6 for non-EU candidates resident abroad. The English-taught Medicine and Surgery had 84 and 36, and MedTech 68 and 12.

Does a score on one Campus Bio-Medico test count for the other?

No. Each call ranks only the candidates who sat its own test. Within the English-taught call, one score counts for both Medicine and Surgery and MedTech if you registered for both.

Practise in the real format

The free practice paper has 60 questions in the format of the 2026/27 call, 20 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics with five options, to sit in 100 minutes without a calculator and score with +1, −0.2 and 0, every answer explained. Every question is IvyTest's own, not an official Campus Bio-Medico question. When you want more, the IvyTest Campus Bio-Medico package adds a full simulator, the study guide and lessons.
