Student life
Living in Enna as a medical student
Kore's campus is in Enna, a small inland town roughly halfway between Palermo and Catania and the highest provincial capital in Sicily at about 930 metres — a genuinely different setting from Italy's bigger cities: quieter, smaller-scale, and, though no Enna-specific figure is published, plausibly cheaper to live in than Rome or Milan.
Clinical training is anchored at Ospedale Umberto I in Enna, though Kore's own planned university hospital was still being built out as of 2026, and it isn't confirmed whether clinical rotations extend to larger nearby cities like Catania for more specialised training — worth asking directly if that matters to you.
Transport links, total student numbers and international-student proportion aren't reliably published; if easy access to a bigger city matters to your decision, weigh that explicitly rather than assuming Enna offers it.
FAQ
Kore admissions FAQ
No. Kore's Medicine and Surgery programme is taught in Italian, and the admission test is mostly in Italian too: six of the 60 questions are written in English, embedded within their science subject rather than set as a separate section. This guide and its simulator questions are written in Italian too, so you prepare in the language of the test; confirm the current language requirement directly with Kore before applying.
In person, on computer, at Enna or at one of the other venues listed in the call, with only a sheet of paper and a pen: no calculator. It's 60 five-option questions in 60 minutes; a correct answer scores +1, a wrong one −0.25 and a blank 0, and you need at least 12 of 60 to enter the ranking. For 2026/27 the main test was held on 8-9 May 2026, with further rounds on 24-25 July and 19 September 2026, and one more on 28 October 2026 (registration 8 to 26 October) that, like September's, can also be sat from home.
Yes. Until the 2025/26 cycle, last sat in February 2026, 36 of the 60 questions were logic, problem solving and reading comprehension. The 2026/27 call dropped that section entirely: it's now 60 science-only questions, 20 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
It's built on Kore's most recent call, for the 2026/27 cycle (Decreto Rettorale n. 23/2026). The 2027/28 call hadn't been published as of this guide's last update, so check it for any changes once it's out.
Yes. Kore-format practice sessions are available inside the simulator.
€18,000 a year, paid in installments (€7,000 at enrollment, €6,000 by 17 December and €5,000 by 30 March), plus a €160 test-registration fee. Five merit scholarships covering the full €15,500 course contribution go to the top 5 eligible candidates with an ISEE (Diritto allo Studio) up to €30,000; the call reserves them for Italian, EU and equivalent candidates.
For 2026/2027 the call offered 416 seats at Enna (400 EU, 16 non-EU); D.M. 1004/2026 then set 632 for the year across three sites: Enna 450 + 16, Ragusa 80 + 3 and Siracusa 80 + 3. Kore doesn't publish an acceptance rate or applicant numbers; after the May 2026 test all 172 eligible candidates were invited to enrol.
As a standard Italian medical degree (LM-41), it's designed to qualify for the same automatic EU/EEA recognition as any other accredited Italian programme, and the same national reform applies: the old separate Esame di Stato licensing exam no longer exists, and a practical assessment built into the final year now confers the right to register and practice instead. For the UK, the Medical Act 1983 (sections 21B and 21C, as in force on 12 October 2026) spares holders of an Italian medical degree the knowledge test other international graduates take through PLAB/UKMLA, but the UK's list pairs the laurea with the Diploma di abilitazione all'esercizio della medicina e chirurgia, which Italy stopped issuing in March 2020, when the practical training moved inside the degree. The GMC's Italy page therefore offers graduates since then provisional registration on the laurea, for a UK Foundation Year 1 post, and asks for evidence of supervised practice, such as a 12-month internship, for full registration. US recognition goes through the standard international-graduate route (ECFMG/USMLE).
