The IvyTest exam simulator

Sit your university's exam before the real one.

The simulator holds a separate paper for each of the 52 universities we cover: its subjects, its number of questions and options, its clock and its marking. Drill one subtopic with every answer explained, or sit the whole paper under exam conditions.

  • 52 universities, one paper each
  • Timed, Tutor, Review, Full mock
  • Every answer explained

01 · Your paper

Built on your university's own paper

There is no generic test in the simulator. Each university's questions are filed under its own subjects and subtopics, and its mock follows its own format. Pick yours to see what you would be practising.

Across the 52 papers

  • 24 give five options a question, 23 give four, 5 mix the two
  • 10 take marks off for a wrong answer
  • 16 set a minimum score to qualify

Each section has its own clock. When a section's time runs out, it closes and its answers are final.

Marking

Medicine and Surgery

A wrong answer loses marks and a blank scores zero, so a blind guess has a price. The mock marks you the same way.

Every section has its own minimum. Below it in one section, the attempt does not count, whatever the total.

The same answers are also marked for MEDTEC School, with different weights. The mock gives you each result.

02 · Build a session

Choose what to practise

This is the practice builder from the app, working on the real Humanitas syllabus. Try it: every step responds, exactly as it does for a student.

Subjects and subtopics
Practise every subject together or only some. Pick one and you can narrow it to single subtopics: Humanitas has 29, named as its syllabus names them.
Four modes
Timed is the exam's conditions: a clock, and no answers until you submit. Tutor shows the answer and its explanation after each question. Review opens every answer from the start. Full mock is the whole paper, set, timed and marked by the exam.
Length and time
Sessions of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 60 questions. A timed session runs at the exam's own pace, 2 min a question at Humanitas, and you can make it tighter or more relaxed.

03 · Sit it

Inside a session

One question at a time, the exam's clock, and the tools you would use on paper. The screen here is a Timed session on a phone: one answer chosen, two options crossed out, the question flagged.

A Timed session on a phone: the clock and question count at the top, a flagged question, two options crossed out and one chosen.
A Timed session at Cattolica, in the demo.

The tools

  • The clockSet to the exam's pace. It turns gold at five minutes and red at two, and you can hide it.
  • Question mapEvery question as a numbered square: answered, flagged or not yet seen. Tap one to go there.
  • FlagMark a question to come back to. Before you submit, you see how many are flagged or unanswered.
  • Cross outStrike out the options you have ruled out, and restore one if you change your mind.
  • Passages and figuresReading questions show their passage with the question. Charts and diagrams open full size and zoom.
  • KeyboardLetter keys to answer, arrow keys to move, F to flag.
  • PausePausing hides the paper and stops the clock. Your answers are saved, so you can close the tab and finish later.
  • How sure are you?In Tutor mode you say whether you are sure before the answer shows. A wrong answer you were sure of is marked as a misconception.

The full mock

The whole paper in one sitting, set by the exam rather than by you.

  • The same number of questions from each subject as the real paper.
  • The real time limit. On a paper with timed sections, each section runs on its own clock.
  • No pause, as on the day. Practice sessions can be paused; pauses are recorded with the result.
  • Marked in the exam's own points, section by section, against each minimum the university sets.

04 · Learn from it

After the session

Every answer is saved and put to use: to explain what went wrong, to bring it back before you forget it, and to choose what you practise next.

    • Every question with your answer, the correct one and its written explanation. Show all of them, only the wrong ones, or only the flagged ones.
    • Every wrong option comes with why it tempts you and why it is wrong.
    • Your time against the time the question should take, and how other students answered once 20 have.
    • Tag why you missed it: didn't know it, misread it, reasoning slip, ran out of time, changed your answer, guessed.
    • Retest the questions you missed in one click, in Tutor mode.
    Open it in the demo
The Review screen on a phone: a missed chemistry question with its topic, difficulty and time, the correct answer, the answer chosen, and how other students answered.
Screens from the demo account at Cattolica, with its sample history.
